Anuario brigantino
Scientific publication
The Anuario Brigantino is a scientific publication published by the Council of Betanzos since 1948. Founded by Francisco Vales Villamarín, it has always been responsible for collecting all kinds of historical, artistic or literary research from the Betanzos region. It also has a compilation of the events of the year in the town and the memories of the different associations of the city.
The origins of the Anuario Brigantino
The first issues, directed by Francisco Vales Villamarín, were directly linked to the magazine of the Xogos Froraes published in 1918, organized by the Irmandades da Fala. After the issues of 1948 and 1949 it was not published in 1950, resuming in 1951 and ceasing to be published again for thirty years.
Recent history
In 1981, the publication was resumed, by the hand of the same director, until the arrival of Alfredo Erias at the Museo das Mariñas in 1983, then taking charge of its edition until the year 2020, when he retired. Number 44, related to the year 2021, has already been directed by the new director of the Museo das Mariñas, Ángel Arcay Barral.
