ETHNOGRAPHY
Betanzos cannot be understood without its traditional trades. In addition to the guild streets that we can still appreciate in the city, there were different jobs linked to crops as prominent as vines or hops and a great tradition of old bread ovens that are still in operation.

MEDIEVAL BETANZOS
You will be able to learn about key episodes of our history through the singular buildings that have already disappeared, such as the cloister of the convento de San Francisco or the chapel of San Roque; and such spectacular tombs as that of Afonso de Carvallido and Clara Sánchez, two of the leaders of the Irmandiña revolt in Betanzos; or that of Sancha Rodríguez, the first wife of Fernán Pérez de Andrade.
Also some curiosity brought by our port, the economic engine of the city for many centuries, as is the case of the Arab tombstone of Boabdil's uncle, the last King of Granada, which for a time was the altar stone of Santa María do Azougue.

In the last two hundred years, these publications have served to spread all kinds of ideas throughout the city, with publications of all kinds: political, trade union, educational, neighborhood…
